Spectacular display of synchronization, it was a treat to the eyes. One of the best opening for any game to date, and I watched the whole thing through. Why? Because I was rooting for Michael Phelps and because there was no football to watch (desperately waiting for the season to begin this weekend because then there would be something more than just whiling my time away over the weekend) and there was no movie either. The Dark Knight, WOAH!! Need I say anything about this movie?? Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart…oh yeah…a MUST WATCH!! And then there was Awake, which was a simple movie that keeps you hooked and then I had to go and watch Mummy 3: The Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Blah!! I really like the first two movies and this was such a rip off!! Horrible!! I was truly devastated by it. Thankfully the theater was filled with like minded people so we ended up throwing popcorn and ‘cheering’ for everything that happened!! The nachos and popcorn offered some sort of redemption for having sat through an hour and a half of predictable and shocking impossibilities (I mean, Yetis??? C’MON!! Get real!!) The temptation to watch the movie arose from the fact that the trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince would be played at the beginning, which didn’t happen and thus added to the disappointment we so willingly subjected ourselves to. So it wasn’t that great a weekend. The first weekend after my parents left so there was that emptiness making its rounds and everyone was rather desperate to find something to do, to keep our respective minds of the people and things we were missing. We needed it.
I received my first salary though, on the day my aunt and cousins left two weeks ago and exactly a week after my 22nd birthday – which was a very happy affair for us all because fourteen of the fifteen of my immediate family were present (the missing uncle, well he had an e-party!!
). Everyone else seemed excited by the prospect that I had ‘earned’ the money. Buying things for everyone took away a good part of the weekend, and inclusive in the surprises category was my uncle’s present to me, for completing engineering, and for having started work!! One of many but it still was a surprise and I loved it
Speaking with many of my friends who called up reminded me of the fun we used to have going out for parties. We’d all gather somewhere and talk and through cake and decorations at each other and then stay up the whole night talking, playing loud music, eating cookie dough and ice cream…sigh…memories. Nice to have ‘em around. Gives you this nice warm feeling and you know you’ve got something to hold on to. But sometimes there’s just too many of them and it takes the right circumstances to make you remember it. The good times and the bad, but mainly the former. J
I’ve started reading and listening to music more often now, so almost five of the ten hours I’m at work I’ve my iPod on…this is a good thing, I say, because it has got me addicted to Il Divo and Josh Groban an extra bit!! I’d never heard Ancora of Il Divo’s but now I can’t call it a day unless I’ve heard Isabel from that album! Josk Groban…ah! The voice, the music, the lyrics…always! And of course The Saints of Los Angeles. I have broadened my music listening by a notch, so it’s got many more of the older classical songs, instrumental, rock and metal collection. Quite a nice collection in truth, but the only problem I’m facing now is the back-up. Haven’t found the time to copy the files onto my laptop, which is filled (almost, with 25GB to spare) with House M.D. (four seasons) and some thirty movies. Must compress the files or sit for a coupla hours and burn ‘em all onto DVD’s.
These thoughts escape my mind when I’m at work because of the sole reason that I am at work! For the past two weeks I’ve been on loan on another project (two actually, one after the other) and by the end of this month I’ll be back on my project so, yeah, the work is serious with promises of getting even more intense. Just that Grandpa’s finding a bit difficult to get used to the fact that I might have work till 9 in the night and will, eventually, end up coming home much later than even Mama. He agrees that work is work and I can’t site any lame reasons just so I can be back home early, so it’s fine, and now I drive myself to work and back so it’s quite enjoyable!!
