So it is once again the month of February and the last remnants of a nicely cool winter fade in with the beginnings of the promise of terribly hot and sweaty summer days still to come. Here come the Grammy’s, Golden Globe’s (sadly cancelled of its glamour in view of the on going writer’s strike…I’m sure everyone’s aware of it) and the Oscar’s (probably the only awards show I end up watching even if it’s only last few awards I do watch). This time, naturally I will watch the Oscar’s because Viggo Mortensen (as in Aragorn = son of Arathorn = heir of Isildur = King Elessar) is a nominee in the Best Actor category for Eastern Promises.
Yup. I don’t mind waking up at six in the morning just to watch the live telecast.
February, as usual, and as expected brings with it the wave of romance !!
Nope. It’s not about my love life (which is truly non-existent. Well, not completely, ‘cause I’m still smitten by Faramir with no intentions of getting over it quite easily or quickly LOL). It’s about the people around me. Two of my best friends have been planning for a week what they will give their respective guys. The making of a card with all those mushy words and the hearts and the red (it’s sweet and all, yeah, I suppose. But fact remains that I really don’t believe in Valentine’s Day. My opinion that’s all.) I found this particular article quite entertaining; it pertains to what not to get ‘him’ or ‘her’ for Valentine’s Day !!
And as tradition goes V-day is obviously not just for those already in love but surely for those in the throes of love as well. I promise not to get “sentimental” about it
. Finding out that two friends, my classmates to be precise, have just announced ‘officially’ that they are in fact in a serious relationship was one of the happy news’ I’ve so far received in the week. It has nothing to do with V-Day next week, though. It’s just delightful to know that there are people around you who are extremely happy with each other and they want to continue to make each other feel the same for…well, eternity!! True, I don’t exactly like watching all those romantic movies but it’s rather natural and satisfying to know that my friends, close ones, best ones, finding that they can say “That’s the one I’m going to spend the rest of my life with” – and this not just for the heck of it, but meaning it truly and honestly. I’m glad for them all and from the bottom of my heart I wish them well, joy and everything else that goes along with having/being in a relationship. If truth be spoken I’m content that my friends are blissful in this. It’s very satiating to see that smile on people’s faces, especially the one’s that are close to you.
As for me…Ha ha!! Just want to know Mum’s reaction when she gets the parcel I’ve sent her!! Too early for her birthday gift, but I’m sure that for now it will make her day
