It was that rush of excitement I haven’t felt since I first started watching football with renewed intensity
in 1998…that Ricky Martin sang during the opening was a different issue, but I haven’t felt this way in a very long time while watching a match. CHELSEA WON THE FA CUP !!!!
They beat MANCHESTER UNITED 1-0 !!!! That’s the best part !! Well…there’s a better one still… None of the main players of Chelsea were fit enough and some were not even on the bench (I lament here the absence of Michael Ballack, who made a HOT appearance at the end of the match, in any case, in a suit !!) and ManU had everybody.. their defenders, strikers, midfielders…excluding Neville. But they had all their best players and THEY LOST. Ronaldo (apologies to my cousin here), and Rooney…nothing to say. They played their way to the Premiership title, but not with the BLUES !!
Didier Drogba’s goal came in the 115th minute (in extra time) and was absolutely marvelous. Lampard’s pass was exquisite and Edwin Van Der Saar couldn’t save his team from misery.
Seems as though the Reds couldn’t withstand the attacking stance of the Blues.
I admit that the match as a whole was actually boring. The first half dragged and the second half had a few bookings and the beginnings of a brawl. Even extra time was a little yawn inducing but the shots were pretty good. Chelsea wasn’t in their best of form and yet Drogba managed to clinch them their well deserved title.
[Chelsea was the last team to win the FA Cup at the old Wembley Stadium on 20th May, 2007 and the first to win it at the new Wembley on 19th May, 2007.]
I screamed and yelled and revelled in happiness !! It was a ground breaking end to the season.
Now the news from college.
Some of my friends visited an astrologer last week and what the man said to one of them is not good. I was upset by the prediction. I mention this only because I want to put forth a belief on mine. I don’t think anyone can predict the future. No one can say what you’re going to do tomorrow so how is it possible to define your life out for you?
Well, even if someone is blessed with these capabilities, I wouldn’t believe in them.
We are our own persons. We know what we like and dislike and some of us have defined goals, others have their dreams. It depends wholly upon us how we’re going to get there. We choose what we want our life to be.
I live in the moment. I like to be on the fast lane, yes, but I like to be in charge of my own life, predictions put aside. What I do today, even the simplest thing, plays a major role in defining how my life will be ten years down the line. No one can tell me it is not.
Feels a bit foolish to have the belief that someone who you barely know can tell you your entire future. The past, is easier because even we can do it on a daily basis. But the future? That’s a fathomless mystery to everybody. One who can see through the obscure clouds will be akin to God himself and I don’t think that is going to happen any time soon to anyone.
